A co-educational private day school with a solid grounding in the Christian faith, Hong Kong International School (HKIS) serves Reception 1 to Grade 12 students from around the world who seek a US college-preparatory education.

Languages: Mandatory Putonghua for Reception 1 to Grade 5; Putonghua, French and Spanish offered from Grades 6-12

When to apply: Year-round. Reception 1 to Grade 2, priority deadline: October 31. Grades 3-12, priority deadline: February 1. Applicants may not apply more than two years in advance.

Waiting list time: Not applicable; when a space becomes available, an applicant is selected based on how well they will fit into the school community, rather than on how long they have been waiting.

Fees: R1-Grade 5: HK$196,200 • Grades 6-8: HK$201,900 • Grades 9-11: HK$225,000
• Grade 12: HK$225,950 • Annual Capital Levy: $20,000

Campus and facilities: HKIS has two campuses on the south of Hong Kong Island. An extensive redevelopment of the Lower and Upper Primary Schools in Repulse Bay concluded in January 2019. The Middle and High Schools are in Tai Tam, with expansive grounds including a sports field, swimming pools, robotics labs, music and art wings, state-of-the-art classrooms and science labs.

Outside the US the most popular were University of Toronto, The University of British Columbia, The University of Edinburgh, King’s College London and Durham University.
