Angel's Share

Central

This secluded whisky bar on Hollywood Road is part of the younger whisky drinking culture in Hong Kong

Ice ball, engraved glasses and unfamiliar whisky brands are on offer at Angel’s Share, a second-floor whisky bar in Central. It has all the ingredients for a gentlemen’s club or whisky bar, save for the lack of privacy (though it houses a curtained, semi-private room) and luxurious furniture. Tables are tightly packed here – patrons will almost inevitably rub elbows, but that doesn’t stop the younger crowd from pouring in. Upon prompting, our server was replaced by his better trained colleague, who answered our barrel of questions on aromas, flavours and oaks, and with her suggestions, we went for the Hibiki 17 Years blended whisky (HK$180) and the Strathisla 1998 from Speyside, Scotland (HK$135). Affordability is not an option at Angel’s Share. The entry-level Glenlivet 12 Years Excellence, for example, is HK$98 a pour (about 50ml) But we do commend its giant list of whisky (with over 100 kinds), with a featured barrel of Highland Park 1997, and innovative cocktails, including one that was inspired by a debonair James Bond. Order confidently, you can most certainly impress your date or friends here.
