Café on M

Oysters freshly shucked to order, stellar dim sum and suckling pig are the highlights at this perpetually popular buffet restaurant

One of Hong Kong’s best value buffet deals lies within the unassuming InterContinental Grand Stanford – and judging by the popularity of Café on M, lots of Hong Kongers know about it. The spread is superior to most, with Mexican, Spanish, Chinese, Indian and Japanese dishes just a few of the many cuisines on offer, not to mention the extensive fresh seafood selection that includes three types of oysters on any night of the week. Food quality is good, and dishes are refilled frequently. A reasonable wine list is surpassed by the option to have free-flowing soft drinks or a never-ending supply of prosecco and red and white wines. Empty plates are cleared away quickly and drinks are kept topped up—no mean feat given the busyness of the restaurant, and pleasant service makes up for a rather typically-styled hotel restaurant where there’s little to write home about in terms of décor.
