The large dining area is homely and well-lit, though it can be a little noisy.The restaurant’s menu offers a vast array of Chiuchow cuisine, from classic specialties to abalone and shark’s fin. The signature combo of Chiuchow specialties allows diners to choose from a list of traditional appetizers. Soyed sliced goose is tender and fragrant; deep-fried crabmeat balls are tasty, but marinated sea blubber with scallion oil is a little chewy. Crab lovers shouldn’t miss the poached red crab cold cut. Offered at a seasonal price, the crab meat is fresh, robust and succulent. The braised shark’s fin in Chiuchow style is also recommended. Served in a generous portion, the shark’s fin is chewy and the soup is yummy. Another good choice is braised Yunnan ham with greens in chicken sauce. The vegetables bathed in a tasty soup absorb the essence of Yunnan ham, which is both healthy and delicious. Various special desserts are on offer. The sweetened red rice and sago with coconut is simply delectable.The list provides a short range of red and white wines from around the world, as well as Chinese wines and other beverages.Service can be lacking on busy weekends, but always comes with a smile.Dinner for two, including expensive dishes like shark’s fin and red crab, costs around $1,500. An average meal for two can cost less than $300.
