Duddell's

Review

Duddell’s, named after the historic street that it is located on, offers fine Cantonese cuisine, albeit at a notoriously high price. The setting is modern, luxurious and comfortable, with the first level offering an open dining room along with some private rooms; while the upstairs is a bar, terrace, and also where the weekend dim sum brunch takes place. It is an excellent choice to bring out-of-town guests who may be unfamiliar with Cantonese food, as the menu offers everything from unchallenging yet innovative dim sum (a siu mai made with quail’s egg, for example) to some very authentic and familiar renditions of home cooking (the braised pork belly is particularly good). The wine list focuses primarily on French wines, perfect for big-spenders, although the Coravin system does also allow for some pretty impressive wines to be tasted without having to fork out for the whole bottle.
