Grand Orbit

The buffet restaurant at Conrad Macao offers filling options at a great value

Grand Orbit is the first restaurant you'll spot upon disembarking the resort-operated shuttle bus. Perhaps due to its convenient locale, the dining hall is packed with traveling families with luggage in tow. The faint background music does little to set up an ambience or cover up occasional screams from misbehaving children, but noise isn't a huge issue thanks to sparse seating arrangements. Aside from fresh batches of crawfish, snow crabs and whelks, the offerings skew towards hot dishes from Chinese and Southeast Asian regions, such as Tom Yum soup with mussels. The a la carte menu offers a diverse range of global delicacies, the linguine gamberetti a notable standout. With an opulent chocolate fountain and jars of velvety serradura pudding, the dessert station rightfully deserves its spot in the centre of the restaurant. While the wine list contains reasonably-priced choices from France, Portugal and Argentina, the staff seems uncertain of the bottles' whereabouts: The delivery of a glass of rosé took over half an hour.
