Guincho a Galera is the Portuguese fine dining restaurant at the Grand Lisboa Macau, is like a blast from the past, unashamedly old-fashioned. The room is made up of handsome wood, various oil paintings with chandeliers set in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere. The restaurant has a nice cozy feel to it with comfortable seats, tables lined with white linen; signature rimmed white chinaware and a fine selection of Riedel glassware.
Fortaleza do Guincho is the original restaurant on the cliffs overlooking the beach at Guincho, just north of Cascais in Portugal. It is famous for the quality of the products and its second home in Macau, it replicates its high standard.
We ordered the baked crab meat in shell is a traditional Macanese dish which they have recreated at Guincho a Galera. Tasty fresh crabmeat cooked to perfection.
One of his signature dishes is the stewed seafood in "Cataplana" Portuguese style; it is a wonderful blend of jet fresh seafood and is absolutely delicious. Portions are big enough to share. For main course we tried the royal duck rice with braised duck breast in a blood sauce, it is not a light dish but it is so good. The rice is crispy and the duck breast was tender and served pink in a delicious rich sauce. For desserts, the must try is the decadent dessert trolley, a selection of 6 different Portuguese at MOP150.
The first thing diners will notice when selecting wine at Guincho a Galera is that the wine menu is provided on an iPad. The list, which contains more than 8,700 labels and is a Wine Spectator magazine Grand Award winner, is impressive by even the most stringent standards. Wine is served in the sommelier collection of Riedel glasses.
The service at Guincho a Galera is a delight, attentive and faultless. The knowledgeable and friendly staff runs the restaurant like a well-oiled machine
A three-course dinner for two with wine will come to over MOP2000, It’s a tad expensive but the ingredients are first class and do consider the set lunch offering, which is a bargain in comparison.
