Having first opened in 2004, Harlan’s Restaurant and Bar is a long-term survivor of the merry-go-round of closures that plague Hong Kong’s dining scene. Its success is partly due to its sweeping harbour views, but mainly down to its extensive menu of classic European dishes. Jet-fresh lobster is one of the restaurant’s main draws, whether served in the form of the French blue lobster salad, a bisque, lobster spaghetti or simply whole. Other dishes are similarly well-executed but generally unadventurous, with the burrata and spring chicken both crowd-pleasing highlights. If you’re overwhelmed by the extensive (and expensive) wine list, the friendly and knowledgeable staff are happy to make suggestions. And the staff’s talents don’t end there—they’re also experts at getting the perfect photo of you and your dinner guests in front of the skyline, so you can remember Harlan’s stunning view forever.
