Honjo
A modern Japanese restaurant that reimagines classic Japanese ingredients and flavours
Honjo is one of those restaurants that, while unlikely to win any dining awards, has won itself a loyal following for delivering dependably on all fronts. The interiors feel labyrinthine and alluring, steeped as they are in a unique mid-century Japanese aesthetic. The service is cordial and attentive, while knowing when to leave the guest alone. The food ranges from nigiri and rolls, to assorted sashimi, tempura, hot dishes and kamameshi iron-pot rice; across this wide range, quality is largely assured. The drinks list is surprisingly comprehensive: the sake options are helpfully categorised into fragrant, crisp, rich or matured, while wines comprise large format and half-bottle options.

Those looking for value will find it in the brunch, “dunch”, and weekday lunch menus. Two dinner set menus also offer bang for your buck.
