Galaxy Macau is ostentatious in many respects, so it is particularly pleasing to remember that the sprawling casino-resort behemoth also houses a discreet, and very good, whisky bar in its upper levels. As the name suggests, there is a healthy number of drams by the iconic Scottish distillery, though there are plenty of tipples sourced from around the globe—the whisky flight is one way of discovering whiskies both popular and esoteric, from the much-coveted Yoichi 20-year-old to lesser known Mackmyra 1st Edition from Sweden, all toffee and banana on the nose.  Staff are thankfully well versed in the selections that are housed within the rather large menu. Live music from in-house performers The Macallan Duo lend a sultry vibe six days a week, though there’s always the chance the peace may be disrupted by the occasional loud and rowdy guest who has just won big at the casino tables.
