Diners will find a convivial atmosphere here, particularly suited for a quick lunch or casual dinner. The focus is on the food, with tables featuring built-in grills – conducive in cooking the various marinated barbecue meats available on the menu. Seating is available in cushioned booths, although they are largely spaced quite close to each other, and interiors are decorated minimally.
The menu comprises a variety of Korean specialities, from barbecued meats and seafood, to spicy tofu stews and sizzling stone pot rice. We visited Myung Ga during lunchtime, when a special set lunch menu is offered. Meals are preceded with a bounty of banchan, including fresh kimchi, marinated black beans, bean sprouts and cheongpomuk (mung bean jelly), before the main dish arrives. The pork and soft tofu is a warming dish, particularly well-suited for cool days, that is rich and hearty with its flavourful broth. The grilled beef short ribs arrived as expected, served on a sizzling plate on top of a bed of onions. The marinated meat was well seasoned, and tender to the bite. Dessert options are limited, with only selection of ice cream and homemade Korean ginseng ice cream on offer.
The drinks list is varied here, able to cater to all occasions and preferences with Korean wines, cocktails, Chinese wines, sake, champagne, red and white wines, and a selection of spirits.
Overall, service is efficient, although we found it difficult at times to get the attention of wait staff due to the layout of the restaurant.
For its offerings, the menu is moderately priced, although we found great value in the lunch sets, priced at MOP150 or below each.
