By the same people behind Quinary and Angels’ Share, the gin-focussed Origin on Wyndham Street strikes a great balance between a bar that is serious about the alcohol it serves; and a bar that is just a great place to hang out. The long open bar allows you to watch the bartenders do their thing, while a whimsical bathtub by the bathrooms and the bare brick walls winks at the Prohibition-style element of fun as well as the storied history behind this juniper-based spirit. Admittedly, we weren’t actually the biggest fans of gin, but we quickly changed our minds after tasting the Ginjito, a blend of grapefruit distilled gin, fresh grapefruit, mint and a dash of absinthe.
