The original Sabatini opened in Rome back in 1954—and the Hong Kong outpost in The Royal Garden does its heritage proud. Its inviting country manor-style setting is utterly charming, transporting you straight to rural Italy, an ambience made all the more enchanting with live band performances throughout the evening. Whilst the menu pops with premium ingredients like wagyu beef, Boston Maine lobster and Oscietra caviar, it has the full-bodied flavours to back it up—as showcased by dishes such as the mezze maniche, which boasts supremely tender braised oxtail, perfectly al dente pasta and an umami-rich tomato sauce. Starters and secondi are equally impressive, with the dessert trolley another highlight (be sure to save room for their signature St. Honoré cake) meaning you’re likely to leave Sabatini satisfied and stuffed on all fronts. The wine list covers a spread of serving sizes, price and region, with Italy well represented as expected; service is warm and knowledgeable, and recommendations given with ease. With its unique blend of sophisticated cuisine and captivating ambience, Sabatini really does feel like a one-of-a-kind.
