Wooloomooloo

Australian   |   $ $ $ $   |   Wan Chai

Perched at the top of a commercial building, Wan Chai’s Wooloomooloo Steakhouse is the district’s go-to place for seafood starters and steaks of good value

Located at the top of a commercial building with rooftop access, Wan Chai’s Wooloomooloo steakhouse is home to a 270-degree city view, with a bird’s-eye vantage point of the bustling city underneath and a glimpse of the Victoria Harbour. The main dining area is a sizable room surrounded by floor-to-ceiling windows, inviting natural light during the day and a full view of the city lights in the evening. Steaks are predominantly Australian, with a few from the US on offer, best accompanied by with a number of impressive side dishes and variations of potato to choose from; while fries and potato gratin come highly recommended, it is the hash browns that are perfectly executed, served with a dollop of sour cream, scallions and crisp bits of bacon. Seafood starters are good for sharing and desserts are more conventional but well-made. The establishment offers adequate wines by-the-glass options but the selection by-the-bottle is far better.

Tatler Tip
