Helping American designers and brands navigate the Asian market
It’s an exciting time to be Adrian Cheng as the CFDA (Council of Fashion Designers of America) has just been named the first global ambassador with a mandate to support American designers as they seek growth for their brands overseas.
The ambassadorship will run for four years and places Cheng at the helm of establishing a series of international programmes and scholarships designed to roadmap new business models and create cross-cultural dialogue between American designers with retail and commercial counterparts in Asia.
With a business portfolio that spans hospitality, art, design, fashion distribution, jewellery and property development, Cheng is poised to be an apt ambassador for American designers and brands to better navigate the Asian market and the need for businesses to be globally savvy.

“As we look at our work with CFDA and understand the importance of globalisation and the ability of business, it helps us to have people who are on the ground and have the knowledge and experience and interest in working with American designers,” said Steven Kolb, president and executive chief and executive officer of CFDA.
