On knowing who you are:

“What you need in life is a strong moral compass, a set of convictions and core values. You need to have a sense of who you are and what you want to be, because if you don’t know who you are and what you want to be, then you will always be buffeted by the wind, depending on which way it blows. I’m not that sort”.Anson Chan, First Female and First Chinese Chief Secretary, in 2010

On people's initial impression of her:

"Oh, I love teasing people..I often don't hand out my name card until the end of a dinner because there's nothing more satisfying than watching someone realise they've misjudged you all evening. On whether men should be the only ones to propose marriage:

"Why should a woman have power over all the other areas of her life, such as career, mate, friendships, body and finances and not over the decisions to ask for someone’s hand in marriage? A woman should be able to propose without society seeing her as aggressive or desperate…Many people argue that when a man proposes it’s a romantic gesture…but I think a woman can be equally if not more romantic – and probably better organized!"—Leigh Tung-Chou, Member of the Hong Kong Ballet Board of Governors and HK Adventist Hospital Foundation, in 2014.

We're definitely feeling inspired. Happy International Women's Day!
