The couple have been spotted dropping off meals for local charity Project Angel Food multiple times
While Prince Harry and Meghan Markle had previously set their sights on moving to Canada, it seems the former royal couple have officially started to feel at home in Los Angeles.
According to US Weekly, the twosome were spotted for the first time late last week while volunteering with Project Angel Food, a local charity that cooks and delivers meals to Los Angeles residents in need, including those who have been affected by life-threatening illnesses.
“In honor of the Easter holiday, the Duke and Duchess spent Sunday morning volunteering with Project Angel Food by delivering meals to our clients. And on Wednesday, they quietly continued delivering meals to relieve our overworked drivers,” said Project Angel Food executive director Richard Ayoub in a statement via Instagram, “It was their way to thank our volunteers, chefs, and staff who have been working tirelessly since the COVID-19 crisis began.”
This isn’t the first time Harry and Meghan have extended their help in response to the global pandemic.
The couple donated more than US$112,000 of leftover funds from their exquisite wedding to Feeding Britain, an organization that advocates for systemic change to alleviate hunger in the U.K.
“The Duke and Duchess were able to speak to the archbishop recently and were moved to hear all about the work Feeding Britain was doing to support people during the fight against COVID-19. They have particularly fond memories of their visit to the citizens' supermarket in Birkenhead, especially the generosity and compassion of everyone working there to help others,” a spokesperson said in an earlier statement. “They are delighted to be able to ensure this money is donated to such a great cause.”
In the wake of the pandemic, both Harry and Meghan also reconnected with the charitable organisations they respectively worked with during their time in the U.K. over video chat last week, including the Women of Hubb Community Kitchen and WellChild, a charity providing care for ill children.
