Queen Elizabeth will be transforming her country retreat, Sandringham Estate, into a drive-in movie theatre for the public starting September 25

This September Queen Elizabeth's Sandringham Estate will be transformed into an al fresco drive-in theatre, organised by Enchanted Cinemas.

Open to the public starting September 25, the lineup includes Disney favourites, Toy Story and Moana, as well as popular films 1917, Rocketman, The Greatest Showman, Bohemian Rhapsody, Grease and A Star is Born

Visitors can expect an all-in-one movie experience––while cars will be spaced out to follow social-distancing guidelines, movies will be shown through a crystal-clear LED screen and the audio will be transmitted through bluetooth or aux in the car.

Street food vendors and a pop-up bar with a selection of drinks, popcorn and snacks will be offered and deckchair seatings will also be available for larger groups and families.

According to the Sandringham Estate website, Sandringham “has been the private home of four generations of British monarchs since 1862”. While the estate is usually closed to the public, the Sandringham House and Gardens are open for tours on selected dates from April to October.

Other events such as apple picking at the Sandringham Apple Orchards, light trail through the country park and a Christmas crafts and food fair are also scheduled for the rest of 2020. For more information on the drive-in movie experience and other events happening at Sandringham Estate, visit the official Sandringham website
