2015 marks the 20th anniversary of the Hong Kong Tatler Ball, the city's most exclusive annual soirée. To mark the occasion, we went back to our archives and invited VIPs from the very first event to tell us their memories of the inaugural Tatler party

Hula hoops, balloons, and all that jazz – the first ever Hong Kong Tatler Ball certainly made an impression when it first arrived on the social scene in 1995, where guests such as Sir David Tang, Daisy Ho, and Ronald and Johanna Arculli made a striking appearance. It was March, and the magazine had come of age, so to speak, having celebrated 18 years of publication in Hong Kong.

September 2015 marks the 20th anniversary of the annual Hong Kong Tatler Ball (and 38 years of the magazine) which to date remains a firm fixture on the social circuit, evolving into an event that signals the start of the post-summer social season.

In advance of this year's ball, Edipresse Media Asia's Chief Creative Officer Sean Fitzpatrick caught up with a few familar faces to recall what transpired at that inaugural soirée. "Highly embarassing", "fun yet proper", and "inappropriate" were just some of the phrases our featured guests have used! Above is the film that premiered at the Hong Kong Tatler Ball on September 19, 2015.

After this blast to the past, head over to our #HKTatlerBall2015 minisite to catch up on all the coverage from this year's shindig.
