We speak with the entrepreneur about life in Hong Kong and why staying true to yourself can pay off in the big city

Having introduced French skincare brand Evidens de Beauté to Asia, and now acting as their brand ambassador, Helen Ma is one busy woman. When she is not travelling the world, racing to different meetings, or chasing her adorable two year-old, Shyme, around, she can often be found at some of the most exclusive events and is a regular fixture on the social scene, often showing support for her friends Jaime Ku and Bonnae Gokson.

We speak with the entrepreneur about life in the fast lane:

Hong Kong has always been and will always be my home, a fast moving city – it’s kind of beautiful to look at it 365 days a year – ultimately giving you 365 new chances.

Evidens de Beauté – as the name implies, it’s all about beauty 24/7.

My proudest accomplishment is knowing that I was the best little girl to my amazing parents, and knowing that my daughter, Shyme is and will continue to be the most amazing thing to happen to me.

Looking back I have no regrets. The mistakes of my past brought me to where I am today – and I couldn’t be happier.

The biggest inspiration in my life is my father, who always made me proud and was great at all that he did, he’s always in my heart and not a day goes by when I don’t think of him.

The best part about running your own business is being able to learn from your mistakes, and apply that knowledge immediately. Being in control and navigating the business world isn’t easy – but every day is a lesson where I’m growing, learning, and improving.

My advice for any budding entrepreneur is never give up. Rejection is normal and part of life – it’s not the end of the world. At the end of the day it can only make you stronger, wiser, and smarter.

My end goal would be to build and develop my own brand of products – I find that when you can’t find something you love, often you have to create it.

In ten years, I would love say I’m in a position where my range of products is globally recognised – perhaps it’s ambitious to hope that my company is listed but ideally I would want to have a presence throughout Asia and perhaps in the USA and the UK – who knows what the future holds.

I can’t stress enough how important it is to just believe in yourself, keep positive and channel all your energy into anything that makes you happy.
