We speak to Asia’s hairstylist to the stars about his career to date and his new beauty guidebook

Kim Robinson has spent the last 40 years in Hong Kong building quite a name for himself with salons in Hong Kong and Singapore, and his new range of kr+ by Kim Robinson salons opening throughout Hong Kong, most recently at Soho 189.

Naturally, he has established a following amongst Asia’s elite counting ladies like Brigitte Lin and Bonnae Gokson as clients and close friends. Ahead of the launch of his latest beauty guidebook, Go Get Gorgeous, we spoke to Asia’s A-list hairstylist Kim Robinson, about his ongoing pursuit for perfection and why he believes hair can make or break a person or a look:

I first came to Hong Kong in the 1970s and it was the height of glamour at the time, not much has changed since then

If I had to summarise what I do in one sentence, it would be to “empower people with confidence.”

One of my proudest accmplishments would have to be having the honour of styling the late Diana, Princess of Wales’ hair

Looking back, I have no regrets I feel like I’m the luckiest man alive with all I’ve experienced and the blessings I have

My biggest inspiration would have to be my parents

The best aspect of running your own business is being able to nurture the next generation of Hong Kong’s stylists

My advice to budding entrepeneurs is to make sure you always love what you do – otherwise its not worth it

My end goal is to be happy and to help make women happy

In ten years I hope to be recognised as Asia’s foremost provider of hairdressing services and products

My words to live by are simple: “Go get gorgeous!”
