United Hong Kong: A Benefit In Support Of Light Be, Hong Kong's First Social Housing Enterprise
Given the recent developments, the conditions for holding the United Hong Kong Benefit are no longer as safe as we needed, and we have taken the decision to postpone the fundraiser. For more information, please see here.
As the beneficiary of United Hong Kong, all pledges and donations from the benefit will be going directly to help to support Light Be and the challenges of social housing in Hong Kong.
Our belief in the “4 C’s” is what inspired this event––connection, community, charity, and a can-do spirit, all of which we believe the city needs more than ever.
To reach our goal of raising HK$10million, we are asking for a minimum guest pledge of HK$10,000 for all attendees of United Hong Kong, and will also be hosting both a live and a silent auction.
With 100% of the proceeds going directly to boost Light Be’s vision of creating high-impact housing models to empower Hong Kong’s economy post Covid-19, Tatler has rallied over 20 partners to graciously offer auction lots. These exceptional lots not only fall under “priceless” categories, but also showcase each company’s profile with flair and ingenuity. Stay tuned for more information to come on the incredible, money-can't-buy auction lots.
About Light Be
Founded in 2010, Light Be has launched Hong Kong’s first social housing network, Light Home, and the first social housing building, Light Housing. Many innovations have been made by Light Be, such as delinking rent from market rate, integrating social housing with tenants’ personal development, engaging property owners to form a housing network, conserving and revitalising idle building for creative social housing, and many more.
Through this benefit and the generous support of the Hong Kong community, we will be able to accelerate our impact in terms of developing new housing options intended to help temporarily impoverished households and break their poverty cycle, particularly in this post-Covid environment.
— Ricky Yu, Founder of Light Be
How you can support
Through the United Hong Kong Benefit, we are also asking the Hong Kong public to show their support for this initiative, which will, in turn, support the hospitality, performing arts, and provide much-needed social housing to those who need it the most.
