This year's Hong Kong Tatler Ball marked a major milestone—the 40th anniversary of Hong Kong Tatler. The evening was a grand celebration not just of the publication's history, but also of Hong Kong itself and the amazing people who helped build it; the movers and shakers, the leaders, the philanthropists, and of course, the stylish and promising.

For one night only, The Grand Hyatt was transformed into a futuristic space to entertain over 350 of the city's social elite, who were dressed to the nines in show-stopping gowns and tuxedos. Versace was the fashion house of choice for a number of our distinguished guests, including Jaime Ku, Angie Ting, Peter Cheung, Yolanda Choy-Tang and Adrienne Hui.

Other guests decided to make jewellery the main event, including sisters Kristine and Vickie Li, Sabrina Fung-Lam and husband Kevin Lam, who all shone bright like diamonds in spectacular pieces by Chopard.

Walking through an ultramodern tunnel, guests were transported to the Grand Ballroom where they were treated to a visual journey through decades passed, accompanied by an opening performance by handpan musician Chor Lai.

Drinks were flowing at the Glowing Bar pop-up, where amongst champagne and fine wine, premium pours of Macallan—The Macallan 12-Year-Old Double Cask, The Macallan Rare Cask and The Macallan 18-Year-Old Fine Oak—were served to guests. The dinner menu was designed by The Grand Hyatt’s five-star culinary team to reflect Hong Kong’s East meets West culture, featuring delicacies from the land and sea including an exotic meat that made its Hong Kong debut —American Bison—which was served in two Asian-inspired varieties.

Following dinner was an awards ceremony. Queenie Rosita Law received the “Most Promising Young Lady” award, “Most Stylish Woman” went to Adrienne Hui, Alan Lo was named the “Leader of Tomorrow” and finally, Cle de Peau honoured Michelle Ong for her philanthropic efforts. There was also an emotional tribute to the late Sir David Tang, who was supposed to receive the Diamond Award at this year's ceremony.

Finally, it was time to party. The world's most travelled band, Liquid Blue, had attendees up on their feet and rushing to the dance floor in a heartbeat. Following their live music performance, Ds Fred Fung kept the party going until the early hours of the morning.
