Classically cool and effortlessly chic, a navy blazer with gold buttons is a wardrobe staple for many. We sit down with stylist and co-founder of Blazé Milano, Corrada Rodriguez D'Acri, on how to make this jacket work for any occasion. Hover over the crosses in the images to find out how you can buy any piece featured in this article.

Founded in 2013, Blazé Milano is the brainchild of former fashion editors Corrada Rodriguez D'Acri, Delfina Pinardi, and Sole Torlonia. The label started as bespoke made-to-order jackets, but eventually expanded into ready-to-wear due to growing demand.

Blazé, which is a twist on two words—blazer and blasé—perfectly encapsulates the label’s attitude, “it’s nonchalant, effortlessly chic; kind of a British equestrian meets French girl cool”, Corrada explains. “Throughout our careers, we had the opportunity to be surrounded by such beautiful clothes” Corrada reveals, “and we wanted to create something that was a culmination of all the things we have been exposed to, and we arrived at the classic blazer.”

For Corrada, it’s the details of the jacket that make or break it. “For me, fabric is important, but we also pay close attention to buttons. It's not a detail that a lot of brands focus on, as it's something that can become quite expensive. We really carefully consider the buttons that go on our blazers, especially in our made-to-order pieces.”

Rounded pockets have also become a signature for the Italian label, which is a feminine touch to the otherwise tomboy silhouette of their jackets. “We were researching 1920’s costume history, and it was a detail that was applied to lots of dresses, jacket lapels and even theatre costumes at the time, and it just kind of stuck with us.”

Corrada breaks down three easy-to-wear looks with a personal favourite of hers from Blazé Milano—the Everyday Blazer in navy with gold buttons.

1/3 Everyday elegance

"A navy blazer is arguably the most versatile wardrobe staple for women. It’s super iconic and it can be worn any time of the year. Dress it up or dress it down—it's a no-brainer. The easiest look you can go for is to pair the jacket with jeans and a white t-shirt."

2/3 After dark

"Wearing a blazer gives me the confidence that i'm properly dressed for any occasion, and I never feel out of place. I even like to drape a jacket over my shoulders when I'm in a flowy gown. It gives the look an extra edge."

3/3 Tux Redux

"Pairing the navy jacket with wide-legged trousers to match is a great alternative to wearing a dress to special occasions. We’re moving into an era where dress codes aren’t as clearly defined or restricted, but you never want to be overdressed or underdressed. A blazer is an article of clothing that can be suitable for just about any occasion."
