Known as The City of Masks, Venice has many faces: from a tourist trap to a luxury retreat, a modern cruise ship pit-stop to a historical naval hub, the Italian city embodies many different things to different people. Renowned sites like Piazza San Marco and the Grand Canal have become synonymous with the city's name, while  attractions like the Rialto Fish Market and Frari Church are less often on the tourist radar. To René Caovilla, the master shoemakers, Venice is home: since Rene's father, Edoardo Caovilla senior, set up shop in 1934, the luxury shoe designers have been making exquisite creations from their Venetian store. Sharing a name and passion for shoes with his grandfather, Edoardo Caovilla joined his father's company in 2009 as creative director and COO, carrying on the family business for the next generation. In the beautiful ancient city for Asia's Most Stylish 2016 photo shoot and the opening of DFS' brand new Venetian flagship, we embraced La Dolce Vita and explored the city sites through the eyes of Edoardo.
