Clé de Peau beauty trainer Khoo Ai Tee shows us in five steps how to achieve the perfect red lip look, from prepping and priming to pulling it off with ease

One of the fastest ways to glam up is by bringing out the red lipstick. Some of the most recognisable women in history like Marilyn Monroe, Dita von Teese and, of course, Clé de Peau's own celebrity face Amanda Seyfried, have shown us the empowering effect of the perfect red lips.

“Red lipstick is an instant way to get that sexy glamorous look,” echoes Khoo Ai Tee, beauty trainer at Clé de Peau Beauté. “A quick swipe can transform how you feel and how people perceive you, giving you an added confidence.”

At the same time, it could also be one of the hardest look to perfect so we completely understand why so many women are intimidated by it. It can be easy to pick the wrong shade, rendering us pale or making our teeth appear more yellow than they truly are.

Clé de Peau and Ai Tee are here to save the day. Read on for Ai Tee’s 5 simple steps to achieving the perfect red lips that will last and stay put all day.

You will need:

Clé de Peau Beauté Lip Liner, Clé de Peau Beauté Lip Treatment, Clé de Peau Beauté Concealer, Clé de Peau Beauté Extra Rich Lipstick in 311, Clé de Peau Beauté Radiant Powder Foundation

Step 1: Treat

“Before lipstick, apply the Lip Treatment to moisturise lips.”

Step 2: Conceal

“Apply the concealer outside of the lip line to define the lip contour. Then, pat some powder foundation with the edge of a brush and apply to the corners of the mouth.”

Step 3: Line

“Outline the lips with a lip liner closest to your natural lip colour and blend inwards to create a wider lip line.”

Step 4: Colour

“Apply your red lipstick with a lip brush and colour lips in within the lip line.”

Step 5: Blot

“Draw softly along the lip corners with a lip liner for more precise definition. It would help lipstick to last longer by blotting it with a tissue and then re-applying another coat.

Do not over-apply your lipstick to avoid lipstick staining your teeth. Always dab a tissue over your lips after application, focusing on the inner corner of your lips to get rid of excess lipstick.”
