5 Rolex Watches Worn By Roger Federer
February 1, 2018 | BY Kevin Cureau
As one of Rolex's most famous ambassadors, tennis star Roger Federer is known to strap on a watch before hitting the court and hoisting his latest trophy. To celebrate his sixth Australian Open title and 20th Grand Slam title, which he won on January 29, we take a look at five Rolex watches that have adorned the maestro's wrist
The Rolex Sky-Dweller is one of the brand's most complicated watches and combines a dual-time zone function as well as an annual calendar. All of the functions are controlled by using the crown and the bezel, a feature first introduced in the Rolex Yacht-Master II (which has also been seen on Federer's wrist).
The Sky-Dweller that Federer is seen wearing above is the latest version, released at Baselworld 2017, in steel and white gold with a beautiful blue dial.
Rolex Datejust 41mm
For his record eighth Wimbledon title, Federer chose to wear the Rolex Datejust 41mm in steel and yellow gold with a slate grey dial and roman numerals. The Datejust is a classic watch from Rolex and was first released in 1946.
This larger case size is ideal for people who want a classy everyday watch, and with the company's in-house automatic 3235 movement giving the timepiece a 70-hour power reserve, you won't have to worry about your watch stopping if you forget to wear it for one day.
Rolex GMT-Master II "Batman"
Released at Baselworld 2013, the Rolex GMT-Master II is nicknamed the "Batman" thanks to its black and blue Cerachrom (Rolex's own version of ceramic) bezel. The watch allows the display of a second time-zone on the dial thanks to a separate hand, and is the perfect watch for a frequent flyer like Federer who chose to wear this model for his comeback win at the Australian Open in 2017.

Rolex Day-Date 40mm
The Rolex Day-Date was released in 1956 and immediately became an icon as the first watch to have the days of the week spelt out in full on the dial. The Rolex Day-Date has been worn by President Lyndon Johnson and has a rather scandalous connection to President John F. Kennedy as a gift offered to him by Marilyn Monroe.
The model Federer is wearing is the Baselworld 2015 release of the Day-Date in 40mm and Everose Gold (Rolex's proprietary version of rose gold) featuring a chocolate dial set with 10 baguette-cut diamonds for the hour markers.
Rolex Yacht-Master II
The Rolex Yacht-Master II is a surprising choice for a tennis player, as it features a complication made specifically for sailors—the regatta timer—but if you are a true watch enthusiast, it is a truly interesting and mechanically complex timepiece.
A flyback function helps re-adjust the counter on the fly without having to reset and just like the Sky-Dweller, the setting mechanism is controlled by the ring command bezel. The model worn by Federer is in white gold and platinum, which is the heaviest version of the Yacht-Master II but surely lighter than the trophy Roger is holding.
