Van Cleef & Arpels has always produced beautiful watches, but the Charms Romance Parisienne Retrouvailles is something else altogether. It’s one of three timepieces that document an unfolding love story set in the heart of Paris, and its champlevé enamel dial depicts a gentleman giving his sweetheart a bouquet of flowers. In 1906, Van Cleef & Arpels became one of the first jewellers to settle in Place Vendôme, a Parisian square designed in the 18th century. The original boutique sat directly opposite the opulent Hôtel Ritz, which attracted Russian and European aristocrats who would shop at the luxury boutique.
