The Boghossian family have committed themselves to creating exceptional jewellery that marries the rarest gemstones with innovative design

For over a century, six generations of the Boghossian family have committed themselves to creating exceptional jewellery. With boutiques strategically placed throughout the world–including a Hong Kong flagship store in Central’s Prince’s Building–the jeweller's prowess lies in the careful curation of its gemstones. As well as, of course, its unique design and impeccable execution.

From the intimate and unmarked headquarters in Switzerland, CEO Albert Boghossian, the fifth generation, works alongside his nephews Roberto and Ralph Boghossian, and his daughter Dalia, the sixth generation in the family business. Originally from Mardin, an Armenian township in the Ottoman Empire, the Boghossians set up a stone-trading business in Aleppo, Syria, where Albert and his older brother Jean were born, before moving to Beirut, Lebanon.

By the ’70s–now based in Europe, in Antwerp and Geneva respectively–Jean and Albert began selling gems to luxury brands and high-end private customers. Fast forward to today, and the house is largely celebrated for its rare gems, which are sourced from countries including India, Burma, and Colombia, among others, as well as their setting methods.

In the early 2000s, Albert, Roberto and Ralph began experimenting with innovative jewellery setting techniques. Boghossian’s “Kissing” technique is particularly notable and allows a gemstone to be set on top of another. The “Merveilles” technique, meanwhile, allows gems to sit seamlessly side-by-side, which gives the appearance of them floating. It’s unsurprising, therefore, that many Boghossian pieces have broken records, such as the Manuscript bracelet, which became the most expensive coloured diamond bracelet ever sold when it went under the hammer at Christie’s Hong Kong’s Magnificent Jewels auction in May 2018.

Here are six of some of Boghossian’s most memorable jewellery creations, which highlight the house’s ability to beautifully showcase gemstones by using elaborate design structures…
