Jewellery fans alert: renowned Italian high jeweller Roberto Coin is bringing his innovative designs to an exclusive trunk show in Lane Crawford next month.

Widely recognised for his intricate metalwork set with precious stones, Roberto Coin recently presented a number of stunning jewellery collections in Baselworld, including bejewelled roosters and spiders in the Animalier Collection and diamonds wrapped in twisted threads of gold in the New Barocco Collection.

Roberto Coin's latest collection “Sauvage-metry” (sauvage is french for “untamed”) balances bold geometry with sleek femininity. Made for the modern woman, the striking silhouettes of the cuffs and rings are simple yet intense, and like all his designs, they reflect a blend of powerful inspirations.

In 1977, Roberto Coin left a career in hospitality to follow his dream and spent several years learning techiniques and traditions from the greatest masters of Italian jewellery craftsmanship. He decided he wanted to be unique, innovative, and, most of all, himself.

Thus, in 1996, he founded the Roberto Coin brand. Melding cultural and natural influences, as well as past and present styles, Coin constantly experiments with ideas and trends in hundreds of new designs every year.

He’s well aware of the power of a personal touch—so much, in fact, that he signs off each of his pieces with a small ruby inset, where the gem will be in direct contact with the wearer's skin. Rubies are known as stones of passion, health and good fortune—something he hopes to impart to each wearer.
