The Italian labels new Autumn Winter 2015 campaign images depict a resilient character, with images that speak to the modern woman

Captured by Anglo-American artist Jackie Nickerson, Marni’s distinct Autumn Winter 2015 campaign images projects the Marni woman as a strong, introspective character with a fiercely independent spirit in a series of intimate moments.  Breaking the conventions of traditional fashion photography, the campaign images imply that the clothes are not her central focus, nor is her hair or makeup – instead, each image is a portrait of the modern woman, portraits that don’t rely on sex appeal or suggestive ideas. These images are a display of strength, often a quality lacking in fashion campaign images today.

With her face either turned away or cropped out of the shot, often only a segment of her body is visible, in an invariably odd position – suggesting her focus is on something more compelling happening outside of the image. Rather than showcasing immaculately styled outfits and perfectly coiffed hair, she is pictured lying outstretched across the floor or leaning against an upturned table.

In a time when Marni is rolling out a series of new stores, the Italian label has decided to advertise, presenting a new campaign each season that will reflect the aesthetic of the coming season’s collections as well as the independence, and spontaneity that characterise Marni’s design sensibilities.
