There’s something special about owning a piece of clothing that’s created just to your liking. It’s not only about never clashing outfits with another person — there are memories and emotions associated with the process that off-the-rack merchandise doesn’t hold a candle to.

Given the niche markets that high-fashion labels cater to, they are constantly inventing ways to make their products seem even more exclusive. From made-to-order handbags to bespoke jewellery, below are five new personalized luxury items that truly define “one-of-a-kind”.

Prada has been dabbling in customisation for the past few seasons with men’s sneakers and brogues, and the service has just been made available for the décolleté, an alluring footwear style with a pointed tip and delicate heel. Beyond its usual fine leather offerings, customers will be able to pick from a variety of exotic materials, such as calfskin, pony, and python. Each shoe can be further personalised with the choice of the colour upper and the sole. A final unique touch comes in a metallic plaque on the sole, depicting the owner’s initials. The service is available from March 15 to 20 at Prada’s Pacific Place boutique.
