White Christmas

What says “Christmas” better than silver sparkles and snowflakes? “White snowflakes and sparkle are a major staple during the holidays, and if you pair them with nude or white polishes, you’ll get an elegant look that’s sure to turn heads," says Chan.

Try painting two fingers with milky white polishes and the rest with nude or transparent shade. Go a step further by adding some snowflakes, sparkles and even gemstones for an extra festive touch.

Glitter and green

Red and white might be the first colour combo that comes to mind when thinking of Christmas, but green is also at the top of the best winter nail colours list that will make an excellent base colour for your festive manicure.

“Hunter green and fir green are always the most-requested polishes during the holiday season, and this year is no exception. Not only do dark green shades look great on all skin tones, but they would also work well with any of your party outfits,” says Chan.

You can add simple white and silver glitter accents for a more natural look, or go all out and create stunning Christmas trees, ribbons jingle bells with pearls and crystals to make it more fun for the holidays.

Blue-grey nails with sparkling snowflakes

Another stylish option for neutral lovers is blue-grey Christmas nails. Looking frosty and elegant, this shade is one of the best festive nail polishes to try this year, which gives off a Snow Queen vibe that will make you want to stare it all day long.

“Not all Christmas nail art has to be red and green”, says Chan. “Blue and cool shades are a great alternative for those who want to experiment with nail colours and designs apart from the usual bright tones." Begin by painting three fingers with a milky blue-grey polish and leave the remaining tips in a transparent shade with silver glitter and sparkling snowflakes. A perfect way to jazz up your manicure and show off your holiday spirit without going overboard.

Festive reindeer motifs

Reindeer, sparkles and candy canes—everything we love about Christmas is all part of the game of this lovely design by Chan. If you can’t decide on just one motif and want to wear all of the festive nail art trends at once without being too ambitious, these multi-statement nails will do the trick.

Make reindeers the official mascot of the holiday as the thumbnail accent with a neutral base coat, then create two accent nails with glittery candy cane stripes and gold sparkles against a white and grey beige base coat respectively to achieve a cute, glamorous look.

Get your fingers ready to celebrate the festive season with this twinkle lights-inspired nail art design by Nancy Lau, manager at The Nail Library. According to Lau, “Silver metallic glitter nails will always be chic no matter the season. If you don’t want to look to extra, try painting three fingers in that shade and pair them with two accent nails with Christmas lights and subtle snowflakes”. Pro tip: add some beautiful colourful gems to mimic the lights and give your nails a super-luxe feel.

Shades of red

These red, sparkly nails are nothing short of stunning. Best of all, they are one of the easiest Christmas-themed manicures to achieve, as it only requires a sleek red polish, some gold glitter and festive decals to bring the design to life.

“Just because you are opting for classic red tones, doesn’t mean your designs have to be plain and boring,” says Lau. “Paint your favourite red nail polish on two nails, then create an ombre that starts from bright red and ends in a metallic light burgundy hue on one to two nails. Apply gold sparkle or create sleigh bells on the rest of your fingertips for a show-stopping holiday nail look”.  Looking elegant and Christmassy, this design is sure to be a conversation starter.
