On set at Cap Estel Hotel in Èze in the South of France, Jimmy Choo puts Brazilian bombshell Izabel Goulart to the test as she recounts her style rules exclusively for Hong Kong Tatler

Supermodel Izabel Goulart is no stranger to the limelight—she’s graced magazine cover and is snapped on red carpets around the world. One of the most photographed women in the world, Izabel has over four million followers on Instagram, where she often documents her glamorous adventures around the world and her rigorous exercise regime.

The supermodel from Brazil shows us how to rock the latest Pre-Fall collections by Jimmy Choo, both on and off the red carpet.

Brogues for a tuxedo look

A tuxedo is something that’s traditionally very masculine, but Izabel pairs her tux with a cropped lace top and patent leather oxfords. Shoes are, Izabel explains, central to the red-carpet recipe. “It’s the shoes that really set the tone for an outfit, whether it’s heels or lace up flats.” Topping off the outfit is a classic box clutch, which holds all of her evening essentials: “lipstick, concealer, gum and my phone. I try and keep it edited—what else does a girl really need?”

Sunglasses are always an essential

Have a look on Izabel's Instagram, and you will see that she spends as much time on the road as she does on red carpets. What’s the must-have accessory for any woman on the go? “No matter what you’re wearing, sunglasses add that hint of mystery,” she reveals.

Trainers are a fuss-free style solution

Cannes Film Festival is a "combination of being a pure celebration of film making, the heritage and beauty of the Cote d’Azur and of course, the parties,” Izabel says, “My Cannes routine always involves some kind of exercise, especially if I’ve come in from a different time zone—nothing beats jet lag better than a good workout.”

“I’ll usually wake up super early and head to the gym or do sprints to raise my heart rate—you have to squeeze it in first thing or else the day just takes over.” After hitting the gym, Izabel uses any free time in the South of France for leisure. “I always opt for something simple and sexy, like a stylish pair of trainers. For me, it’s really important to keep things easy and not too fussy—you want to be as relaxed as possible so you can enjoy yourself.”

Channel your inner movie star

Having graced the silver screen with a few cameos in films such as 2017’s Baywatch, as well as an episode of Entourage, Izabel was asked to replicate one of her favourite roles in a film. The model chose Julia Roberts in Pretty Woman. “I’ve always loved both her more risqué looks and the polished, ladylike style. She looks so incredibly sexy, whether she’s in the bathtub with her natural curls or dressed for the opera in diamonds.”

Know your angles (and lighting)

With over four million Instagram followers, Izabel is no stranger to the occasional selfie. “When it comes to getting the best shots, whether it’s for an editorial or for Instagram, you need three ingredients: good lighting, good angles and of course, a good photographer” Izabel shares. “And with selfies, you don’t want to try too hard. I always think the best images capture a candid moment.”

It takes a team

Everyone knows that what you see on the red carpet takes a lot of preparation. “On the day of the red carpet I start with a skin glow facial. Then it’s time for hair and makeup. My go-to look really focuses on skin: you want to keep it natural, but radiant,” Goulart explains like a science, “I then keep everything else fairly low-key, but I’ll always have a slick of black eyeliner to define the eyes. You have to remember that it takes a team of professionals to nail a perfect red-carpet look—hair, make-up, styling, it’s a whole process.”
