Breguet unveiled its newest boutique on Causeway Bay’s Russell Street, and hosted a cocktail party with the brand's top executives, VIP watch enthusiasts, and press on hand to celebrate the opening

The venerable watch brand Breguet celebrated the unveiling of its new Russell Street boutique with an exclusive opening ceremony and cocktail party earlier this month. The grand opening was attended by VIP collectors, friends of the brand, a few select press representatives and executives of Breguet.

At the opening event, brand management, officiated by Thierry Esslinger, chief executive officer of Montres Breguet SA, and Emmanuel Breguet, the 7th generation of the Breguet family and vice president of Montres Breguet SA, held a ribbon-cutting ceremony. Brand executives later poured gold sand—representing the house of Breguet’s impressive heritage—onto a specially designed installation that revealed the hashtag #MYBREGUETMOMENT, demonstrating that the company, with more than 243 years of watchmaking finesse, keeps abreast of time.

After the celebratory opening at the boutique, guests were treated to an elegant cocktail party at The Pawn in nearby Wan Chai. Breguet gave the space, which sits in a magnificent heritage building, a craftsmanship and heritage theme, accompanied by a range of luxurious activities paying tribute to the Breguet Classic Tour, which honours the art of living of a true gentleman.

Indeed, guests were able to retrace the day of a perfect gentleman who, after slipping his Classique watch onto his wrist samples cognac, cigars and caviars, while perusing a display of custom-made shoes.

In addition to the Grand Complication pocket watch Classique Complications 1907, a number of timepieces paying homage to both the past and the future were showcased at the cocktail party, including Breguet No. 765, a replica of Sir Winston Churchill’s favourite timepiece, which appeared in the film Darkest Hour, and Breguet No. 5, a faithful replica of a pocket watch that was finished by the brand’s founder, Abraham-Louis Breguet, in 1794.

Illustrating the unmatched craftsmanship of Breguet and the characteristics of Classique collection, an on-site watchmaker gave guests a live demonstration of his horological craftsmanship.

To round off the evening, the event featured photo booths where guests were able to take photos against a variety of backgrounds such as the street scenery of Hong Kong, mock-ups of magazine covers, and, most importantly, a map showing the location of the new boutique.
