The Hong Kong actress is the first-ever global face of the legendary skincare brand that has been a favourite of Hollywood icons including Marilyn Monroe, Audrey Hepburn, Jackie Onassis, and Greta Garbo

Over the course of its near-century-long history, skincare brand Erno Laszlo has become a firm favourite of some of the world's most beautiful women and iconic Hollywood faces—including Marilyn Monroe, Audrey Hepburn, Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis, and Greta Garbo. Today, Erno Laszlo announced that it has appointed its first-ever global spokesperson in company history: the acclaimed Hong Kong actress and singer Carina Lau.

"We spent some time searching for the right person to champion our values," said Charles Denton, Global CEO of Erno Laszlo, in a statement. "After meeting with Carina Lau, the decision was easy. Ms Lau represents true feminine power.

"She's really a model for modern women everywhere. Her independent spirit and accomplishments in the face of adversity, mirror our belief that every woman can and should be encouraged to live their own legendary life."

Lau began her acting career in television series before starring on the silver screen in films such as Her Beautiful Life Lies in 1989, for which she was nominated in the Best Actress category at the Hong Kong Film Awards, and Wong Kar-wai's Days of Being Wild in 1991. Throughout her career, she's won Best Actress at the Hong Kong Film Awards, as well as Golden Rooster Awards in mainland China, and has been nominated at the Cannes Film Festival and for Taiwan's Golden Horse Awards.

One of the more difficult chapters in her life story is detailed in the Erno Laszlo announcement: Lau was kidnapped by four men in the early 1990s, held at gunpoint, and photographed naked. These photos were later leaked to the media. "Ms Lau's ability to handle these extreme challenges with grace and dignity has inspired women who have also faced difficulties in their lives and added to her global appeal," according to the statement.

Thirty years on, and Lau is as strong and resilient as ever. She calls Erno Laszlo's Vitality Treatment Mask her "secret weapon on the red carpet," and the brand's Multi-Task Eye Serum Mask is part of her everyday carry.

"I have been using Erno Laszlo since 1997," Lau said. "I'm a loyal customer and love the results I get from using the rituals. To me, Erno Laszlo is like a best friend, always by my side. I am honored to work with this wonderful heritage brand to bring their message of confidence to women in China and all over the world."
