After seeking inspiration in the flamboyant colors of California for its springtime collection, the French luxury brand has presented a new sunlight-drenched summer makeup line channeling the season's laid-back vibes and uplifting feeling of well-being. The "Dans la lumière de l'été" makeup collection is due to roll out from May 2016

Chanel's summer 2016 makeup collection keeps skin, eyes and lips natural. Nails, however, stand out with vibrant shades of a reformulated polish with a glossy, gel-like finish.

A fresh, healthy glow

Over the last few seasons, heavier foundation looks have given way to natural skin, playing on contrasts, highlights and light-reflective properties. For summer 2016, Chanel brightens skin for a natural, healthy glow with "Les Beiges, Healthy Glow Multi-Color Power" in two color duos.

"Duo N°1" features terracotta and golden sand powders to sculpt contours and brighten the face with highlighting touches. "Duo N°2" features a pink shade and a light beige to sculpt and highlight (€55).

Satin-finish shimmer

While colors are drawn from nature, with shades inspired by sand and pine forests, for example, eyes get a satiny finish this summer with a shimmery effect.

Chanel's Makeup Creation Studio has crafted a new and exclusive limited-edition version of its classic eyeshadow quad, with "Les 4 Ombres Empreinte du Désert." This has coppery brown, golden beige, brown and khaki green shades, which can be used alone or together for different effects (€51).

The eyeshadow palette is accompanied by "Stylo Yeux Waterproof" eyeliner in emerald green and pinky coral shades (€25). These waterproof eye pencils can be used as a liner or to add color to lids. Chanel also presented a new coppery brown "Mirage" shade of "Le Volume de Chanel Waterproof Mascara," which can be used alone or as a top coat (€32).

The brand finishes lips with gloss this season, with a new formulation of the iconic "Lèvres Scintillantes." This reworked version has a more fluid texture and a more hydrating formula, and comes with a new applicator for a more even finish. Six shades are available for summer, with pink, red, pomegranate, orange, peach and coral colors to choose from (€28).

"Le Vernis" nail color adds the finishing touch to Chanel's summer look, with five eye-catching shades including a pinky red, a green, a chocolate brown color, plus orange and beige. The product's formulation has also been reworked, and now includes bioceramics to help strengthen nails (€25).
