Circles are perhaps the most common shape in jewellery design: the endless loop is seen as a symbol of eternity and completion. For Russian painter Wassily Kandinsky, it’s a motif that represents perfection and cosmic mystery. In reference to his abstract artworks, Chow Tai Fook has created the L’Œil d’Imagination necklace, one of the most eye-catching pieces in the brand’s High Jewellery Collection, Le Labyrinthe Artistique.
It's impossible not to be transfixed by the heart of this stunning piece — a 43.55-carat cat’s eye emerald, certified by the Gübelin Gem Lab as the largest-ever Zambian gemstone of its kind in 2010. What really sets this creation apart is a ray of light that runs across the main stone’s apex, one that remains visibly striking from every angle. The emerald is embraced by a cluster of white diamonds in round and olive cuts and pink diamonds, in an eye-like formation that calls to mind a shape of a feline’s pupil — the namesake of the stone. Watch the video above to see first hand how the radiant masterpiece echoes the iconic artist’s affinity for the cosmos.
