In an outrageously fun Crazy Hours 24/7 party, Franck Muller proves that no one parties as hard, and creates timepieces quite like they do

After a long week at work, we all crave a day on the beach. But if a flight to Bali isn’t on the cards—or even a speedboat to Tai Long Wan–then why not attend a glitzy, glorious party with a sandy theme? Hosted by Franck Muller in celebration of their new range of outrageously fun timepieces, this was a party for people who appreciate colours and love to have a grand time.

Among those seen partying that evening were brand ambassador Julian Cheung Chi-lam and his wife Anita Yuen, as well celebrities and fashionistas Simon Yam, Qiqi, Michael Wong, Janet Ma, Kayla Wong, Kadin Wong, Calvin Choy, Winessa Chow, Ray Lui, Xiaojuan Yang, Shirley Cheung, James Shing, Dickens Lam, Wesley Wong, Tianyo Ma, Jimmy Tang, Antonia Cruz and Sarah Zhuang.

The Swiss watch manufacturer’s novelties were equally weighted between the sexes. Vanguard Crazy Hours Lady is the playful set of women’s watches. With its sun-stamped lacquered dial and distinct numerals that were applied by hand, and which come in tangerine orange, buttery yellow, candyfloss pink and strawberry red, it is unforgettable. And if those edible hues haven’t got you feeling hungry, wait until you see the emblazoned crown.

As well as the glamorous colours, the watches come with a case set with 299 brilliant-cut diamonds (3.83 carats), while under the alligator-skin strap is a rubber inlay that moulds to the curves of the wrist. The youthful and futuristic aesthetic, meanwhile, is entirely unique.

Don’t think for a second though that this was a party just for women–men got their fair share of glamour and dynamic designs. Clad in a lightweight black carbon case, the Vanguard Crazy Hours for men features distinct Arabic numbers, and come in either canary yellow or London-bus red. The face and strap are a glossy black, other than the stitches on the hand-sewn alligator strap, which echo the flashy colours of the numbers. An icon of watch design, its sporty curves and colourful touches make it one of the brand’s most remarkable men’s timepieces.

Franck Muller is about so much more than just appearance, too. The brand is famous for its world-class complications and this collection is no different. The Crazy Hours complication offers a unique reading of time by showing hour numerals in the most unconventional order. Thanks to a patented mechanism, the central hour hand jumps (quite literally) from one hour to the next, creating a mini piece of theatre on your wrist every 60 minutes.

And the party was as colourful as you’d expect from a collection such as this one. Guests sipped cocktails on blow-up beach doughnuts, chatted under palm trees and cuddled a giant teddy bear. The entrance corridor was particularly Instagrammable, thanks to a series of neon-coloured numbers scattered across the walls, made to represent the gloriously quirky complication of the Vanguard Crazy Hours collections.

Guests left feeling just as happily sated and infectiously enthusiastic as if they had spent an actual day on the beach – although instead of wet swimming costumes in their bags, a lucky few of them went home with one of the most playful, yet cutting-edge, watches to be released in years.
