What do you do when you have to sing a soft pop song in the first minute and burst into dance the next? Versace had the answer—a three-in-one fuschia stunner that Grammy Award winner Dua Lipa sloughed like a sartorial snake, as she moved from "Levitating" to "Don't Start Now." Dua Lipa won Best Pop Album at the star-studded affair last night.
The first layer consists of a voluminous duchesse satin cape dotted with crystals in a degradé pattern. As the song progressed and Dua Lipa began to show off her signature moves, the cape gave way to a long blazer-dress underneath, entirely encrusted with Swarovski crystals, before finally revealing a bralette top and matching bottoms for "Don't Start Now." Even the accompanying boots and mic stand were studded with pink crystals.
The inspiration? Future nostalgia, the title of her winning album, by infusing 60s silhouettes with a poppy, future-looking optimism.
Dua Lipa's red carpet dress, also by Versace, was a fluid column covered in crystal mesh in fairy hues, complete with a butterfly bodice—a great hint at her stage costume that followed.
