NCT’s Jaehyun and ‘Love Alarm’ star Song Kang top our list of best-dressed stars on the front row this season

At a fashion show, the runway isn’t the only spot that sees all the sartorial action. The front row can fire up just as much excitement for its glitzy celebrities in their designer ensembles, especially as these famous figures often dial their style up a notch for that special occasion called Fashion Week.

With the Men’s Spring/Summer 2023 season now underway, that has certainly been the case. As the world begins to move past the pandemic, we are excited to see the return of physical fashion shows—and front row guests from beyond the West.

Some of the coolest Asian celebrities made an appearance this season, from Jaehyun of K-pop boyband NCT to South Korean rapper Zico, who was recently named an ambassador to Fendi. And the recent men’s shows precipitated some frenzy-inducing crossover moments made for the ‘gram: Love Alarm star Song Kang rubbed shoulders with the eccentric men’s style icon and Prada stan Jeff Goldblum, while Stranger Things’ Noah Schnapp posed for a selfie with Zico.

That is not to dismiss the commendable styling choices that we saw at Men’s Fashion Week. Below, we highlight some of the best dressed Asian celebrities that we spotted.

Hyuna and Dawn

Loewe ambassador Hyuna and her fiancé Dawn showed up in style to catch Jonathan Anderson’s grassy fashion show. The K-pop It-couple were in full glam, with her sparkling in sequin playsuit and him looking like a rockstar with a furry coat over his bare, tattooed chest. Props to Hyuna for flaunting the unconventional Loewe Bracelet Pouch too, which combines the practicality of a bag with the convenience of a bracelet.

Lisa of Blackpink

Once again, Celine ambassador Lisa has captured the essence of Hedi Slimane’s French chic aesthetic. Sitting next to Tame Impala’s Kevin Parker, the Blackpink rapper attended the Celine menswear show—its first physical show in seasons—in a sequinned turtleneck and a pair of belted shorts, resembling French style icons of the ‘60s.

Taehyung (V) of BTS

BTS’ Taehyung, otherwise known as V, looked ready to party on the front row of Hedi Slimane’s latest Celine fashion show. The K-pop star was all a-glitter with a sequinned turtleneck and a crystal cascade necklace, which he topped off with a bold red leather jacket that made him impossible to turn away from.

Park Bo-Gum

Reply 1988 actor Park Bo-gum offered a masterclass in layering, arriving to the Celine fashion show in a long coat, a vest, and a turtleneck. To add a twist to the sophisticated ensemble, the K-drama star threw on a pair of leather pants and accessorised with a crystal fringe necklace.

Jaehyun of NCT

After causing a stir with his casual, all-Prada airport look, which combined two of the Italian brand’s hottest accessories of the moment—the bucket hat and the Canvas tote bag—the K-pop star headed to the fashion show with an upgraded ensemble. He kept the polished Prada derby shoes, but channelled the style sensibilities of The Matrix with a nylon jumpsuit, smartened up with a black wool suit. Again, accessories were key: Jaehyun’s Prada chain necklace is sure to be sold out soon enough, but you may have better luck copping his sleek, rectangle-frame sunglasses.

Song Kang

Often seen on the red carpet in a typical tuxedo, Song Kang was never as adventurous with his suits as he was at the Prada fashion show. His grey suit was the product of Miuccia Prada and Raf Simons’ picking apart of menswear for the Fall/Winter 2022 collection, hence the butch, broad shoulders contrasted by the cinched waist. Kang added his own military-inspired twist to the formal look by completing it with a pair of combat boots, into which he tucked his trousers.

Cai Xukun

Chinese singer Cai Xukun resembled less of a pop sensation than the lead of a rom-com drama in his get-up. While wearing the same jumpsuit seen on Jaehyun, Cai’s version came in light blue, which made for chromatic harmony when styled with a long grey coat. Its length emphasised Cai’s towering height—another qualifier for a swoon-worthy, on-screen hero—and the outfit ended with flourish via a pair of glossy, square-toe loafers.

Zico

Even when pulling a look from Fendi’s Fall/Winter 2023 collection, which was inspired by the classic menswear wardrobe, Zico managed to bring a boyish charm to his first Fendi fashion show appearance. His red check, reversible coat ended just as his Fendi monogram knee socks began, which also drew our eyes to his polished leather loafers. Accessories-wise, the South Korean rapper favoured Fendi’s O’Lock necklace and bracelet.

Lomon

As fresh as it seems, Lomon’s look from the Cactus Jack Dior collection had a touch of history on it. His wool and cashmere sweater featured the CD Diamond logo, created by former Dior designer in 1974. Almost 50 years later, and its graphic power is still evident in Travis Scott’s collaboration with the French fashion house. Here, Lomon demonstrates a masterclass in monochrome dressing by completing his look with a pair of pink cargo bermuda shorts.

Japanese actor Ryusei Yokohama was already dressed in the new Dior Men Spring/Summer 2023 collection even as he watched the fashion show from the front row. His elegant, tailored ensemble was classic Kim Jones, while its colour was a nod to the soft hues favoured by Christian Dior. To complete the look, Yokohama sported a pair of wellington boots that suited the outdoorsy feel of the collection.

Ouyang Nana

Fresh-faced Taiwanese star Ouyang Nana has been won over by the edgy minimalism of Matthew M. William’s Givenchy, and she clearly suits it. Her outfit represented William’s modern take on tailoring, comprising a beige biker jacket with popped collars and Givenchy Lock hardware, and a ribbed knit skirt whose hem has been seductively slit.

Ryota Katayose

Ryota Katayose could easily have been mistaken for any one of the cool kids that populate Williams’ Givenchy runway shows with his army green ensemble. Over a graphic shirt suited for skater boys, the Japanese singer wore a padded vest whose utilitarian quality was reflected through his trousers, which were unconventionally fitted with roomy pockets. On his feet, Katayose sported a pair of Williams’ wacky, sculptural Givenchy shoes.
