The decision for the designer to leave the house after just three years was mutual, according to an announcement released yesterday
In breaking news, Daniel Lee and Bottega Veneta will no longer be collaborating.
Lee, who joined the fashion house in 2018, developed his own take on understated luxury and transformed the Intrecciato weave into bags and accessories that are modern, must-have pieces.
Despite this being his first role as a creative director for another house, his background at Céline gave him a strong foundation to develop clean yet memorable designs, including his signature Cloud pouch and shade of “Bottega green”.
The press release that revealed the decision did not elaborate on why the collaboration was ending, stating both Lee and Bottega Veneta agreed on parting ways.
“My time at Bottega Veneta has been an incredible experience. I am grateful to have worked with an exceptional and talented team and I am forever thankful to everyone who was part of creating our vision,” said Lee.
Leo Rongone, CEO of Bottega Veneta, said, “[Lee] provided Bottega Veneta with a fresh perspective and a new sense of modernity, while remaining respectful of the brand’s fifty-year heritage.”
After witnessing a fabulous partnership that has seen this house grow to a major point of influence, the question on everyone’s mind is: Where will he go next?
