The Bollywood actress fronts the luxury fashion brand’s new Dauphine bag campaign

In another win for diversity in fashion, Louis Vuitton has just named Bollywood actress Deepika Padukone as its new House ambassador.

This makes Padukone the first Indian face of the French luxury brand, adding her to the growing global roster of Louis Vuitton ambassadors like Chinese actress Zhou Dongyu and Squid Game star Jung Ho-Yeon.

It’s a prestigious position, but one that Deepika has surely earned. Since making her debut in the Bollywood industry alongside Shah Rukh Khan in Om Shanti Om (2005), the talented actress steadily established an accomplished career by starring in over 30 films and collecting three wins from the Filmfare Awards, India’s answer to the Oscars.

Deepika is now one of the highest-paid actresses in India, and one of the most popular, with over 66 million followers on Instagram. Aptly, she was listed as one of Time Magazine’s 100 Most Influential People in 2018, and again honoured in 2022 with the Time 100 Impact Award.

But what really makes her perfect for Louis Vuitton is her powerful style, demonstrated during her red carpet appearances at the Met Gala and the Cannes Film Festival. She was also named by Tatler as one of Asia’s Most Stylish in 2020.

It’s little wonder why Louis Vuitton designer Nicolas Ghesquière tapped on the actress to star in the French fashion house’s Pre-Fall 2020 campaign.
