We're psyched for these funky collabs in spring 2023

Twenty twenty-three is looking like an exciting year of camp, colours and collaborations. We've seen Louis Vuitton and Yayoi Kusama kick the year off with polka dot prints... and this is just the beginning. 

South Korean wunderkind Gentle Monster and French haute couture house Maison Margiela are pushing forth a union of unconventional ideas and exquisite craftsmanship. Meanwhile, Masquespacio's project with Monoprix envisions an idyllic spring brunch where furniture and fashion become one with the environment in a collusion of pretty pastels and geometric prints.

Fusing retro sportswear with modern street style, lifestyle label Ambush and Wind and Sea collaborates with Nike and NBA, whilst Jimmy Choo and Loewe bring the world of anime to life. 

1. Maison Margiela x Gentle Monster

Gentle Monster is adding to its list of iconic collaborations, from Blackpink's Jennie to Moncler, with Maison Margiela. Known for its avant-garde simplicity infused with haute technicalities—from tabi boots to flip phones—Maison Margiela's creative director John Galliano is no stranger to being experimental. 

In this collaboration, the retro style of sports sunglasses from the 1990s and 2000s have been revived in an 11-piece collection for men and women. To be launched on February 28, the modular goggle-style eyewear are packed in hand-stitched matelassé quilt packaging reminiscent of Maison Margiela's Glam Slam bags.

2. Nike x Ambush

Following the blue Game Royal and Pine Green Air Force collection, the new Ambush x Nike Air Force 1 Low is available in black and phantom. The clean-cut sneakers, which fuse Ambush's designer Yoon Ahn's unique vision with Nike's performance wear is accompanied with an apparel collection inspired by American football jerseys and colourways.

3. Stüssy x Levi's

Commemorating the 150th anniversary of the Blue Jean 501, Stussy is tapping into denim with Levi's this spring. As seen in the teaser, matching jeans and trucker jacket embossed with a bold Stüssy x Levi's logo at the knee and back, affording this old-school denim manufacturer some of that statement Stüssy flair. 

4. Jimmy Choo x Sailor Moon

For the 30th anniversary of manga series Pretty Guardian Sailor Moon, Jimmy Choo's creative director Sandra Choi has teamed up with Naoko Takeuchi, blending elements of luxury and pop culture in a striking, colour-saturated palette. Combining the vision of two female creatives, this capsule is a nod to bold individuality and female empowerment. 

The collection comprises five shoe designs fashioned after signature colours of the five Sailor Senshi: Sailor Moon (pink), Sailor Mercury (blue), Sailor Mars (red), Sailor Jupiter (green), and Sailor Venus (orange). Also featuring Sailor Moon-inspired tracks put together by American DJ Honey Dijon. 

5. Prix x Masquespacio 

Taking inspiration from the joy of spring time filled with light colours and organic forms, French retailer Monoprix and Spanish interior design Masquespacio envision the perfect brunch scene. Ana Milena Hernandez, founder and creative director of Masquespacio, reflects upon her Parisian brunch on terraces with good weather and blooming flowers. 

From women's wardrobe to fruit bowls, this capsule includes 50 pieces of ready-to-wear, home accessories, design objects, and decorations in patterns and palette from the 1980s. 

6. Puma x Rick and Morty

Puma is swivelling to basketball with its latest initiative with athlete LaMelo Ball, a sequel to the Adult Swim series. Inspired by the his escapades and multifaceted personalities, the Puma MB.02 features neon hues and mismatched colour-blocking. These court-ready kicks include Nitro foam and iconic character quotes on the tongue’s interiors.

7. Wind and Sea x NBA

Japanese lifestyle brand Wind and Sea takes us back to the 1980s and 1990s when NBA star players and teams, the Boston Celtics, New York Knicks, Chicago Bulls, Los Angeles Lakers, Portland Trailblazers, and Phoenix Suns to name a few, fought tooth and nail in the Championship Games. The collection themed 'The Road To Victory' unfurls their passions and performances, adopting details from their uniforms and practice gear into casual streetwear. Expect a selection of varsity jackets, mesh jerseys, pullover sweatshirts, and denim pieces. 

8. New Balance x Miu Miu

Miu Miu embeds its signature charm in New Balance, reinventing wardrobe archetypes through a play of deconstruction and reconstruction. Drawing on the effortless silhouette of the 1980s, the collection is based on the iconic New Balance 574 sneakers and available in fringed blue, marble-effect cognac denim, and balanced white leather.

9. Loewe x Howl's Moving Castle

Loewe reunites with Studio Ghibli for their third and final collaborative capsule after the Spirited Away and My Neighbor Totoro collections. Reinterpreting one of Hayao Miyazaki's beloved Ghibli film, Howl's Moving Castle, with a range of accessories, clothing and handbags. 

Fans of Ghibli will find signature characters and motifs such as fire demon Calcifer, Markl, Heen, Turnip Head and the Witch of the Waste printed onto Loewe products, as the design brings life to the world of digital animation. Bones and All's actress Taylor Russell fronts the campaign.

10. Michelob Ultra x Devereux

Inspired by the 1980s film Caddyshack, the limited-edition Ultra Club Collection brings retro-themed charisma to signature golf staples, juxtaposing the clean-lined looks with a refreshing twist. Riffing on the film's humour with offbeat styles, these vintage inspired garments feature bold prints and bright colours, pushing the boundaries of country club meeting street fashion.
