Perhaps it’s the Coachella effect, but playing it safe was totally out of the question for Asia’s stylish set this week. Whether it was wearing a piece of jewellery in an ingenious way, or going for a full look in a flashy colour, our favourite fashion mavens took the art of dressing up to another level.

Below, we highlight the trends that we saw.

Monochrome Madness

Dressing in the same hue from head to toe is a trick that works wonders—depending in the colour you choose. Crazy Love actress Krystal Jung shared with Yoyo Cao and Susanna Lau a penchant for bright, bold colour; all three also styled their monochrome outfits with a handbag in a contrasting hue, making their accessories pop.

PRETTY IN PRINTS

It was a patterns party for the likes of Willabelle Ong and Tina Leung. The former flaunted the sold-out Iris Apfel x H&M suit—previously seen on Heart Evangelista—and completed her look with unexpected bright yellow accessories. Leung, meanwhile, opted for clashing prints that made her ivory Charles and Keith bag and shoes stand out.

Bling Empire star Jaime Xie went heavy on textures with her frothy tulle Tomo Koizumi dress that is very much comparable to a bouquet, while Irene Kim showed us how to elevate a casual outfit with an ornate scarf top (something that Versace happens to be big on this season.)

Evening Elegance

Speaking of elevating an outfit, there were two elegant ensembles that stood out to us this week. Chriselle Lim showed us a contemporary take on eveningwear by ditching dresses and instead wearing a one-shoulder top with a giant bow and a pair of trousers.

Nina Kaginda channelled Audrey Hepburn in Breakfast at Tiffany’s with her LBD and matching gloves, but she added a twist through her jewellery: she embellished her black ribbon choker with a priceless Tiffany & Co. Bird on a Rock brooch.
