Audrey Hepburn's floral Givenchy dress from the 1954 Academy Awards, where she won Best Actress for her role in Roman Holiday, is a prime example. Aside from pioneering the pure and sophisticated image, it's also regarded as one of the most known red carpet looks.
Actors Barbra Streisand and Elizabeth Taylor, to name a few, also made waves with their style. Grace Kelly as well, with her classic, feminine gowns. In 1956, she arrived on the red carpet with a Helen Rose creation, a ballgown with floral embroidery decorating the skirt and a neckline consisting of a chiffon criss-cross style. This is just one of her many outfits designed by Helen Rose—deemed iconic through time.
These celebrities not only get to flaunt their designer gowns and suits from different fashion houses on the red carpet but also use them to make a public statement. As the 95th Academy Awards arrive in a few days, we'll have to wait and see what the actors have to offer.
