Here’s everything you need to know about the upcoming Uniqlo: C line, launching in September 2023

It has been three years since Clare Waight Keller wrapped up her acclaimed tenure as artistic director of Givenchy, but now the British fashion designer is making a comeback—at Uniqlo, of all places.

The Japanese fashion label has announced the launch of Uniqlo: C, a new women’s label that will be spearheaded by Keller. If you’re wondering, the “C” refers to Clare’s name, but it also stands for curiosity, city, clarity, connection and creativity—all the qualities that you can expect from the upcoming line.

“I am honoured to have been asked to create a new label for Uniqlo,” said Keller in a statement. “I have long appreciated its LifeWear design philosophy of technical innovation and functional authenticity. I have always admired the Japanese aesthetic of subtlety, simplicity and detailed perfection, so to be able to work with the Uniqlo team to craft a new sensibility for my womenswear collection on such a global scale is a truly exciting opportunity.”

Fans of Keller will be happy to know that many of the designer’s sophisticated signatures, as established during her time at Givenchy, will figure into her first Uniqlo: C collection—think knife-pleated maxi skirts and dresses, relaxed trousers, sharp tailoring and simply great coats. You can also expect those very wearable pieces to be boosted with Uniqlo’s fabric technology. The aforementioned skirts, for example, are crafted with heat-pressed satin, while the coats are made with anti-static down and Pufftech (Uniqlo’s high-performance but lightweight padding) that you’ll find useful on your next winter trip.

Keller’s return to fashion will be great news to her fans—such as Meghan Markle, who tapped on the British designer to create her famous royal wedding gown. She is also the latest fashion designer to join Uniqlo’s list of celebrated collaborators, which includes minimalist master Jil Sanders, Loewe’s Jonathan Anderson, and Christophe Lemaire, who helms the Uniqlo U line.

Keller’s Uniqlo: C collection will launch on September 15, 2023. You can shop all 34 pieces at the Uniqlo flagship store at Orchard Central, at its Ion Orchard store, or online at uniqlo.com/sg. For now, take a closer look at the collection below and start planning your wish lists.
