Cartier and Tai Kwun join forces to put on a spectacular Christmas display this season

This winter, two historic establishments have come together to celebrate Christmas with a true festive extravaganza. French maison Cartier will be taking over heritage and arts space Tai Kwun with a Christmas display that combines festive extravagance with the spirit of giving. Working together with non-profit Hong Chi Association, which provides a variety of community services to the Hong Kong public, Cartier draws on its long history of social responsibility by raising awareness of the organisation and its activities.

Making memories

Cartier’s first-ever outdoor winter holiday display in Hong Kong, the tree stands at a grand 12 metres tall and is bedecked with thousands of ornaments and LED lights, as well as a built-in music system. Amidst the ornaments are Cartier’s iconic red box motif. Meanwhile, extravagant gift boxes gather at the tree’s base.

Not only is the Cartier Christmas tree the perfect backdrop for winter holiday photos, the brand has four bespoke photo filters on Facebook, all matching with the event’s theme. Jazz up your photos with dreamy snowfall effects, lavish ribbon designs, or even Cartier’s red box. While two filters are available online and one available at any Cartier boutique, you’ll have to visit the Christmas tree at Tai Kwun to unlock the last one.

Christmas festivities

The event kicked off on December 14 with a lighting ceremony followed by an array of performances by local talents, including the Red Vocal Academy, harmonica solo world champion CY Leo, award-winning singer Andy Leung Chiu-fung, and a dance fusion performance. The musical programming was spearheaded by music director Vicky Fung. Guests also snapped photos with Cartier’s bellboys.

Visitors who didn’t have the opportunity to be present at the event’s opening can still enjoy dance performances on December 22-26 at 3:30pm, and get that instagram-worthy shot with the Cartier boys from December 22-26, and December 29 to January 1 from 1-7 pm. Non-profit Hong Chi Association will also be serving up delicious cookies.
