The model is joined by eight other industry titans including Moda Operandi’s Lauren Santo Domingo

The judging panel for the seventh edition of the prestigious LVMH Prize for Young Fashion Designers was announced today, adding supermodel Gigi Hadid and eight major figures in media, e-commerce and activism to the expert committee. 

Gigi Hadid, who now has over 50 million followers on Instagram, will also follow the footsteps of Chiara Ferragni to become the semi-final showroom ambassador of the 2020 LVMH Prize. 

The 24 year-old will be joined by luxury veterans including Moda Operandi cofounder Lauren Santo Domingo, activist Sinéad Burke, i-D's senior fashion editor at large Ibrahim Kamara, Matches Fashion’s fashion and buying director Natalie Kingham, How to Spend It editor Jo Ellison, House + Holme founder and creative director Ronnie Cooke Newhouse, and influencers Caroline Daur and Leaf Greener.

“They are witnesses and essential actors of fashion,” said Delphine Arnault, the Executive Vice President of Louis Vuitton. “Their vision helps to discover the most promising talents. I would like to thank them warmly for their loyalty and commitment to our cause.”

Each of the 68 professionals on the panel will bring their expertise and experience as they judge a pool of talented, up-and-coming designers. The candidates must be under 40 years old and have produced and sold at least two collections. 

The winner, decided by the LVMH jury, will walk away with a cash prize of €300,000 (approx. HK$2.5 million) plus a year of coaching from LVMH experts. 

Another prize, the Karl Lagerfeld Prize created in honour of the late designer, will reward a budding designer €150,000 (approx. HK$1.2 million) and a one-year mentorship programme with LVMH.
