Gucci Garden Archetypes Exhibition Comes To Hong Kong This 2021
In May 2021, Gucci unveiled its Gucci Garden Archetypes, an immersive multimedia exhibition that explores and celebrates the fashion house's creative vision as part of its 100th-anniversary festivities.
Kicking off the launch in the Gucci Garden in Florence and then making its way to Asia in Shanghai. This month, Gucci's inimitable creative visions make their third stop in Hong Kong, opening to the public from June 25 to July 9. The exhibition was originally scheduled until July 7 but due to overwhelming response has been extended.
With travel restrictions still in place, most cannot attend fashion shows and fashion brands opt to host their runaway shows online last year or scaling down the number of attendees. The Italian fashion house is bringing this centenary exhibition to various cities around the world, including Hong Kong to allow their fans to personally experience the 100-year legacy of the brand without travelling.
"I thought it was interesting to accompany people in these first six years of adventure, inviting them to cross the imaginary, the narrative, the unexpected, the glitter. So, I created a playground of emotions that are the same as in the campaigns, because they are the most explicit journey into my imagery," says creative director and curator of the exhibition, Alessandro Michele.
An archetype is an original form from which all copies are made, never able to be recreated in itself and this speaks of every Gucci campaign—a unique and unrepeated moment that expresses the attitude and spirit of each collection, a testament to creative director Alessandro Michele's philosophy.
Gucci Garden Archetypes delves into the multifarious inspirations of Michele, from the music, art, travel and pop culture spheres that resonate through Gucci's campaign. The exhibition in Hong Kong will feature a network of themed spaces that bring the intricate world-building of five Gucci campaigns to life including the scented floral paradise of Gucci Bloom, the giant mural by interdisciplinary artist Ignasi Monreal to the recreation of the set of late-night shows.
Gucci Garden Archetypes Hong Kong opens from June 25 to July 9 at Tai Kwun, Duplex Studio, LG1, Block 1, 10 Hollywood Road, Central from Monday to Thursday at 10:00 am–8:00 pm (last entry at 7:00 pm) and Friday to Sunday from 10:00 am–10:00 pm (last entry at 9:00 pm).
